About the GCTA

The GCTA is the USTA Community Tennis Association for Central Ohio. The GCTA, a non-profit organization, supports tennis in the central Ohio area and is comprised of a volunteer Board of Trustees, and an Executive Director. The GCTA is affiliated with the USTA and belongs to the USTA Midwest Section’s Ohio Valley Tennis Association district.

Growing out of the Upper Arlington Tennis Association in the 1950s, early leadership of the organization was provided by Dick Klitch and the Alexander family.

The GCTA has a long history of providing organized summer tennis for the Columbus area adults and juniors, as well as running events for the Ohio Valley Tennis Association.

Programs promoted by the GCTA include USTA Area Qualifiers, 10 & Under Initiative, Junior Team Tennis, USTA Adult Leagues, and Men’s & Women’s Summer Leagues.

A fundamental part of the GCTA is its support of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. GCTA grant funds are used to fund much of the Columbus Recreation and Parks’ summer tennis programs including youth and adult lessons and league play.

Today, the GCTA is still strongly committed to running USTA programs for all age levels and providing support for tennis in the Columbus area.
